Despite hot and humid conditions Ethiopia’s Belete Assefa managed to run an excellent 28:14 outpacing Kenya’s Allan Kiprono’s 28:19. On the ladies side Ethiopia’s Wude Ayalew won by a convincing 11 seconds over Kenya’s Lineth Chepkirui.

Norwegian great, Grete Waitz has lost her battle with cancer today. She was 57 years old.
Monday’s Boston Marathon proved to be one of the most excited marathons in years. The women’s side had the gutsy performance of American Desire Davila (who placed second)! The men’s raced boasted the Worlds Best Marathon time 2:03:02 run by Geoffrey Mutai (not a world record because Boston has a downhill elevation change). It also had American Ryan Hall running an American best of 2:04:58!
