Mileage PR and week recap

I hit an all time mileage PR last week.  64 miles!

Recap:

Sunday 18: 4.6 easy recovery miles before the saints game.  Alone and it was hot.

Monday 19: 7 miles @ LARUNCO.

Tuesday 20: 8.4 miles in the morning with 3×10 minutes on (supposed to be 4, but I felt terrible).  5 miles in the pm nice and easy.

Wed 21: 4.2 miles very easily in the morning.  Dixie came for a bit.  Tired.  10 miles in the pm at LARUNCO with Poboy and the owner of the candy bar.  I became very tire during the last two miles of this run.

Thursday 22: 6.8 miles. It was the bosses b-day today so we had cake after run group and it was delicious.

Friday 23: 5 miles adventure run with a group of fellows.  This run would have been more fun if I hadn’t been so tired.

Saturday 24: 13 miles with 8 miles at MP (avg 645).  The tempo was long and boring.  This run made me very tired for the rest of the day.

This week I plan to hit as close to 60 as possible.

In other running related news, the world record was broken for the marathon.  2:03:38.  If anything this run validates that the Boston times were not so off base.  It will be very interesting to see how long it takes for someone to break 2:03.  Too bad the women have been set back in our marathon world record because the IAAF decided that women can no longer set records in races with men.  I have been annoyed with this ruling all week.  Taking away Deena’s AR and Paula’s WR record is cruel.  I feel so sorry for these women.

Small Rant. it is still hot and humid.  A break in the weather would be wonderful.  Every year around this time I become disgusted by the weather.  I have had enough of summer and want it to cool off already.

One last thing, GEAUX TIGERS!

4 and 0 baby!

Back

I am not going to promise that I will blog every day or even once a week because usually when I promise these things I fail horribly.  Instead I will jump right in and pretend like I have been doing this frequently.

Really fast update.  Tom Sawyer went well, I ran faster than I had all summer, 1108.  I went out in 5:28.  I managed to win the race for the second year in a row, which is neat.  Then we did hood to coast which was a blast.

This is  a picture of the team.

A picture of me after my first leg (it was crazy downhill and I had to take 3 days off after to heal my hamstrings/ glutes).

Some of the team running into the coast after finishing.  It was freezing.

This past week was a down week in the marathon training.  The goal mileage was 45ish and I only had one real workout. Week in review.

Sunday 11th – Planned Day Off

Monday 12th – 6.6 miles at LARUNCO, would have been a good run but had stomach issues

Tuesday 13th – 7.6 miles with 4 H/ 3E, 3H/2E, 2H/1E, 1H/1W, 2H/ 2W, 3H/ 3E, 4H.  I felt good on this fartlek.

Wed 14th – 3 in the am / 5 in the pm

Thursday 15th – 6 miles, ran from home to work.  We have kickball early game so I had to get it done.  The weather was warm, but breezy.

Friday 16th – Unplanned day off, I played games instead

Saturday 17th – LR, 16 miles, I felt better than I expected to feel.  This is my longest run yet.

This week is a much higher goal mileage week 65-70.  I plan to try to continue to update.

Until then, check out how awesome this is going to be:
